Hendrik Stephanus (HS) van der Linde was born and raised in Pretoria (Gauteng), and matriculated from Hoërskool Montana in 1998. He completed his B.Com Accounting degree at the University of Pretoria (TUKS) in 2001, and his B.Compt Honours and CTA through UNISA in 2002. HS qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) whilst doing his articles at KPMG, specialising in agriculture and forensics. Post qualification he joined EY in Manchester (UK) as an audit manager. During his years as a student, HS was a keen rugby player and represented The University Of Pretoria (TUKS) at U/19 and U/21 level.
Returning to South Africa, HS pursued a dedicated Banking career for the next 17 years, where he held various senior positions, ranging from senior banker to sales executive at Nedbank, FirstRand and ABSA. Part of his banking journey saw him specialising as a senior corporate banker in the Agri Team at ABSA where he focused on large enterprises in the Agricultural sector, primarily South Africa’s Co-ops, as well as a large number of “Mega Farmers”. During his banking career, he completed a number of external programmes including a SLDP at GIBS focusing on leadership and general business skills. His knowledge and experience of banking, strategic investments, and risk management, also enabled him to network with a diverse group of senior executives from various businesses in SA. Long lasting relationships were formed over the years.
Building a career anchored in finance, business and farming, HS was the ideal fit for the Schoeman Group to appoint him as CEO of the Schoeman Bean Division in May 2021. As part of the Schoeman board, HS also assists with various other functions within the group. “My goal is to grow the Schoeman Bean business to a top pulse facility in South Africa, with an international footprint. I am proud to be part of an ever-growing Schoeman Group and my passion is to serve producers and clients with respect and in a professional manner.”
With his excellent people skills and entertaining personality, he is able to bring the science of business, and people skills together. He is a proud ambassador of the group, and will be building long standing relationships with various parties dealing with the Schoeman Group.
HS is married to Yvette, and they have two children Stephan and Zani. HS is also a cattle and game farmer in the Thabazimbi district. He has a great passion for golf, rugby, travelling and enjoys time spent with family and friends.
